Yankee Trails Fall Foliage Tour

Flu Shot Clinic

Flu season is coming – be prepared!  A pharmacist from Hannaford Pharmacy will be at our Clubhouse providing flu shots for those who are interested.  The cost for a flu shot is covered 100% by most insurances, including Medicare.

Our sister property, The Spinney at Van Dyke (6 Parker Mathusa Place, Delmar, NY), will be hosting a fundraiser to benefit the Bethlehem Food Pantry.  We will be enchanted by Kate Dudding, a professional storyteller, bringing us through music and tales of Broadway composers and lyricists.  Bring your friends, relatives and neighbors!  Tax deductible donation of $10 per person – checks made payable to Bethlehem Food Pantry

Chair Yoga Classes Resume!

Wednesdays starting September 6th, 10AM

Cost: $8 for 4-week class

Spinney resident, Joan Haggerty, recently relocated to Castleton to be nearer to her children.  Joan is very passionate about teaching others about the benefits of the yoga practice as it has assisted with her own recovery and management of health challenges throughout the years, and has been teaching since 1979!  Join Joan and learn why yoga is so good for you!  This practice the perfect way to do as much (or as little!) as your body allows you to do with the support of a chair.

Yankee Trail Trip to the Catskills to “Ride the Rails like a Railroad Barron”

Cost: $90

This 2 hour and 15 minute ride through the Catskills includes spectacular scenery, a delicious meal, and a memorable ride.  The Flyer is a terrific way to experience the elegance of yesteryears. Leave Yankee Trails at 7:45AM and return around 4PM.

Zumba Classes Resume!

Tuesdays starting September 12th, 6PM

Cost: $6/class

Zumba Gold classes will be offered in the Clubhouse space starting Tuesday, September 12th and will run through November 14th (excluding Tuesday, October 31st for Halloween).

TRASH COLLECTION DAY CHANGE:

Per County Waste, The Spinney at Pond View’s trash collection day is changing to WEDNESDAYS as of the 1st week of AUGUST.  This means, that the week of July 31st, you will need to place your trash and recycling receptacles out on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 2ND.

Join resident instructor, Ann Yetmen, for a program involving exercise, balance and stretching which benefits all ages and fitness levels.  This program is sponsored by RSVP of the Capital Region in partnership with Sunnyview Hospital and is free!  Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

Take a trip to the Theater Barn to enjoy the musical “Nunsense”.  Called inspired madness, this wacky and outrageous musical takes place at a fundraiser put on by the Little Sisters of Hoboken to raise money to bury sisters that were accidentally poisoned by the convent cook, Sister Julia.  The musical is guaranteed to lift your spirits!

Resident Clubhouse Use

Please feel free to stop into the Clubhouse whenever you would like!  Whether it be to have a cup of coffee with friends, read a book or play pool, we would love to see more residents using the space during the day.  We hope to have outdoor furniture for the patio in upcoming weeks once some of the outdoor construction subsides and look forward to providing more space to enjoy!

David Troxel will be visiting our Clubhouse to educate and speak to Spinney residents and their families about the challenges that dementia can bring.  Atria, the Capital District’s leading provider of assisted and supportive living, will be providing lunch prepared by one of their chef’s!  If you would like to attend, please sign up in the Clubhouse, e-mail pondviewleasing@thespinneygroup.comor call (518) 479-0800, letting us know how many people will be in attendance.

Resident Directory
Resident, Linda Kospa, will be spearheading the effort of creating a new Community Directory.  If you would like to be a part of this, please provide your name, address and/or phone number to Linda Kospa by calling her at (518) 465-3282 or dropping your information off at her cottage (6 Antwerp Drive, #5).  The new Community Directory will only be distributed to those residents who choose to provide their information.

Day Activities on Mondays starting February 6th!
Starting Monday, February 6th, Karen will be onsite from 11AM – 3PM in the new Clubhouse for events during the day as well as to receive any feedback or suggestions residents may have about events.

2/6 at 11:30AM: Afternoon games – Bring your lunch and enjoy an afternoon of games
2/13 at 12PM: Valentine’s Day themed potluck lunch – Bring a pink/red colored dish to share!
2/27 at 12PM: Afternoon movie

Healthy Bones for Life Exercise & Education Program
Tuesdays at 10AM, Thursdays at 4PM
Join resident instructor, Ann Yetmen, for a program involving exercise, balance and stretching which benefits all ages and fitness levels.  This program is sponsored by RSVP of the Capital Region in partnership with Sunnyview Hospital and is free!  Please wear comfortable shoes and clothing.

Chair Yoga
Wednesdays at 10AM
Cost: $8 for 4-week class
Spinney resident, Joan Haggerty, recently relocated to Castleton to be nearer to her children.  Joan is very passionate about teaching others about the benefits of the yoga practice as it has assisted with her own recovery and management of health challenges throughout the years.  Join Joan and learn why yoga is so good for you!
